Lush gardens, manicured lawns, giant oak trees, flowering plants.
Many people don't even notice, but you can test this theory yourself.
Drive through your neighborhood, preferably as a passenger, and have a look at the different houses.
Recognize which features stand out, which features grab your attention.
How do you feel about the lawn that is well-manicured? What about the front lawn
that is filled with gardens. Overflowing with healthy, lush shrubs
and flowering plants. If your yard includes a fountain or a birdbath be sure
they have fresh, clean water at all times. Algae tablets from a fish store
will work wonders in a fountain or a birdbath, and the tablets are safe for the birds, too.
Likewise, if your yard contains a pond and a
running stream, make sure it is clean and operating.
Do you have a bench or cozy alcove to sit and enjoy some
outside air? Maybe a big shade tree, completely covering the yard. Make
sure the branches are clearing the house, the roof, the driveway. Make sure
your yard is well manicured at all times.
How does the description above compare with a house that has an overgrown lawn
filled mostly with weeds, no trees, no plants, no flowers and no shrubs.
Your first thought, as a homeowner, is probably about how much money it will
cost in order to build the yard up to the way you want it. So clean up your
yard. Even if you cannot put forth the time and money
to make it pretty, you need to keep it mowed and trimmed, watered if summer.
Buy a hanging plant, or a potted plant to place near the front door.
One small plant can make a huge difference.
